Incoming Blue Cross and Blue Shield CEO to help celebrate Chamber’s 20th anniversary
(Morrisville, N.C.) The Research Triangle Park’s local business advocacy organization, the Morrisville Chamber of Commerce, has announced that Blue Cross and Blue Shield Chief Operating Officer J. Bradley Wilson will deliver the keynote address at the Chamber’s 2010 Annual Meeting. The event, to be held February 17 at the Hilton Raleigh-Durham Airport at RTP, will celebrate the organization’s 20th year of pro-business advancement and education.
A leader of the state's largest health insurer since 1995, Wilson has broad experience across the business and has been designated by the Board of Trustees to succeed CEO Bob Greczyn upon his retirement in 2010.
“Businesses in our region are very interested in upcoming changes in healthcare requirements for employees,” Chamber President Sharon Rosche’ said, adding, “Having the incoming CEO of our state’s largest private insurer address our Annual Meeting at such a watershed moment in our nation’s history speaks volumes to the importance of small businesses to our community.”
In addition to Wilson’s keynote, the Annual Meeting will include a retrospective of Chamber activities over the past 20 years; a review of the previous year's accomplishments; award presentations for Small Business of the Year and Ambassador of the Year; dinner; and a networking reception.
The Annual Meeting is graciously supported by Instant Imprints and Duke Realty Corporation and is open to both member companies and the general public. Costs to attend the event are $65 for employees of Chamber members and $80 for non-members.
Wilson is a North Carolina native with broad experience in the practice of law, government, higher education, regulatory affairs and business. He practiced law in Lenoir for 14 years before serving as general counsel to North Carolina Governor Jim Hunt where he managed the legal department within the governor's office and was the chief legislative strategist for the governor's legislative program. Wilson also served as acting secretary of the Department of Crime Control and Public Safety.
He has served on and chaired a number of state boards and nonprofit organizations, including the University of North Carolina Board of Governors, the N.C. Railroad Company Board, the Meredith College Board of Trustees and the 21st Century Transportation Study Committee. Wilson has a B.A. degree from Appalachian State University, a Juris Doctor degree from the Wake Forest University School of Law, and a Master's degree from Duke University.
The Annual Meeting is just one of many business advocacy and educational events planned by the Morrisville Chamber of Commerce in 2010. Celebrating 20 years of pro-business activities and community involvement, the Chamber seeks to improve the RTP economy through ongoing support of entrepreneurial activity and business growth.
